Virgin Mobile USA Unveils New Pricing Structure

One of the benefits to evolving technology and service is competition. Products debuts are great but you always end up paying for the technology first and it takes time for the price to get in line. Cellular phone service is no different . I can remember paying 300.00 a month for cellular service and carried around a 4 lb cell phone. The competition for cell service is fierce and companies realize consumers will change their providers for a few extra dollars a month. Today, Virgin Mobile USA made a move Tuesday to undercut other mobile providers offering unlimited rate plans. Mobile providers like T-Mobile and Sprint are currently offering customers an unlimited rate plan, with about $100 being the price customers can expect. Virgin Mobile USA cuts the price by $20 — except for customers who also want unlimited text and messaging, with texting, IM, email and picture messages, who will have to pony up another $10
This is similar to what discount airlines do. Make the base price so cheap , you cant say no and then nickel and dime you for extras, but it is an effective marketing strategy , so don’t look for it to go away .
